Dima,
I've removed the %firstname%...Thank you for catching it.
I see it so often, it became invisible to me.
As for your post, you are SPOT ON! Thanks for taking the time to write something so insightful here.
Most people DO get these steps backwards. And they suffer for it.

Hey Mark,

I lol'd when I saw "hey %$firstname$%" at the beginning, might be a new copy writing secret, get people curious in you're blog post by making them think that they're inside an auto responder :O

I thought I'd add to you're thought on product you're market already wants because I've made so many damn mistakes I think I've really broken it down to a 4 step formula (which most people do backwards)

step 1: Discover you're strengths and passions as a person and as an entrepreneur. They key here is to pick something you have a NATURAL advantage in over just about anyone else. Everyone's an expert at SOMETHING. Find that thing and than leverage the shit out of it. For me my strong suit is my curiosity and ability to see the big picture - for you it might be you're confidence or you're specialization in pay per click marketing.

step 2: Find a hungry market. Food stores never have trouble selling crappy hotdogs for $10 bucks a pop if they're located inside a football stadium. Why? Because they have a HUNGRY market.. literally. Hungry markets can usually be identified because the people have a big PROBLEM they need a solution for like acne, getting their girlfriend back or losing weight - or a PASSION that consumes them like bodybuilders, win collectors and women shopping for wedding dresses. These are all examples of hungry markets, the important part is learning to spot them.

Step 3: MAKE AN IRRESISTIBLE OFFER TO THAT HUNGRY MARKET. I used to think step 3 when it came to internet marketing was good marketing/copy writing, but now I see it as creating an absolutely irresistible offer. Domino's did it with "at you're door within 30 minutes or else you pay nothing".. What's you're irresistible offer? This has to really go to the CORE of what you're market wants(even if they don't yet KNOW that they want it.. hmmmm)

Step 4: Marketing & Systems - now we start writing our copy, engaging our prospects and making systems for creating traffic, products and what not.

Most entrepreneurs get the steps pretty much backwards first settling on the medium and the offering, than trying to find the niche market to offer it to, and lastly discovering that they're most likely not playing inside their strengths and passion and failing - or worse yet succeeding and ending up trapped inside the business they never really wanted to be in in the first place all because they thought it could make them some good cash! WRRRRONNNNG!

wow.. I think I'll republish this comment as a post on my blog haha, ended up being pretty thorough...

I'll try stop by some other time and not hijack you're posts with my rants in the future. Oh and happy new years from my family to yours Mark!

Cheers,
Dima
